WASHINGTON DC – Worker advocates Dolores Huerta, Linda Chavez-Thompson, Rev. Terry L. Melvin, and Saru Jayaraman today announced that they are endorsing Keith Ellison for DNC Chair, adding to an already robust list of supporters from the labor world, including the AFL-CIO.
"I'm with Keith," said Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers Union. "I'm with him because he is a proven organizer who has always championed working people -- even before he was elected to Congress. Whether it's walking a picket line or calling for a raise in the minimum wage, there is no doubt that he wants to see all Americans succeed. I know a fighter when I see one. So did my friend Cesar Chavez. Keith is a fighter and we need him to be the next Chair of the Democratic National Committee."
"Keith is the best person to lead the Democratic Party," said Linda Chavez-Thompson, executive vice president, emerita, of the AFL-CIO and past Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee. "He knows how to organize; he knows how to bring people together; and he knows just how important it is that we fight for working people -- not just when it's politically convenient, but 365 days a year. I support Keith with every fiber in my being, and I'm proud to say that."
"The Democratic Party, as well as the nation, is currently at a crossroads." said Rev. Terry L. Melvin, President of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists and Secretary-Treasurer of the New York State AFL-CIO. "I believe Keith Ellison embodies the vision, leadership, and skills we need to rebuild moving forward. While I respect and commend all the candidates for the position, Keith has proven time and again that he is the right man for the job during these turbulent times."

“I could not be more proud to support Keith for DNC Chair,” said Saru Jayaraman, Co-Founder and Co-Director of ROC United and ROC Action. “He's someone who has always fought for working families and who isn't afraid to take on Donald Trump. The stakes are high, but Keith is up for the challenge and he’s ready to send the American people a clear message: the Democratic Party can and should be your party.”
